Alright, if you’re reading this, you may have gotten your hands on the newly released 2015 flagship by Samsung, the Galaxy S6. Or, you’re just curious. Well today, we’ll go over how to factory reset your device to Manufacturer settings with the touch of a few buttons.
Let’s go over the consequences of Factory resetting your device, as a reminder of the repercussions you may face. First of all, you are encouraged to make a backup of your device, if you do not know how, we have covered this in the past, but if you have nothing to lose, then feel free to skip this step.
Factory resetting your device, like many other devices, will completely erase all user data on the device, including apps, pictures, music, and other media content you may have stored on the phone, so be careful, and make a backup of all the important pictures you have, or your office documents, back it all up to an external location such as your computer, flash drive, or an external hard drive connected to your device via OTG cable.
Step by Step instructions
There are a lot of different ways to factory reset your device. As with most functions you may want to perform on your device, chances are if you can do it manually, there’s probably a third party app that also claims they do it for you, so if you prefer to do things the old fashioned way, then go for it, if not, then go ahead and run a quick Google search for factory reset my device using an app.

Conventional Method using system settings
This option is fairly simple, and just uses your device’s system settings. Beginner users are recommended to use this option over the recovery option, just to reduce the risk of device damage.
Navigate to your device’s settings app, and find the Backup & Reset option.
Then hit Reset Device, and confirm the option.
Select the erase everything option, and follow on screen instructions if necessary.
This process will take a while, so make sure your device’s battery level is nice and high, or you could continue with the process with the device plugged into a power source.
Once the operation has successfully completed, your device should be completely factory reset. All there is to do now is set up your device as if it was brand new out of the box.
Non-Conventional method using Recovery
Let’s go over the non-conventional manual way of doing this, and that is from your device’s recovery menu. If your device is an Android device, chances are you’ll have some sort of recovery menu you can boot into, whether it’s a stock recovery menu, or a custom recovery, the tasks you can perform in this mode are very similar.
Alright, First things first, you’re going to want to power off your device. Just hold the power button and hit the power off selection from the power menu, and wait until the device is fully powered off.

Once you’ve pressed the key combination, you should enter the “Recovery Menu.” If you are unfamiliar with the recovery menu, just follow our guide step by step, otherwise, you may run the risk of damaging your device.
In the “Stock Recovery menu,” you generally cannot navigate or select options using the touch screen, only the volume up/down buttons and the power button are the only method of navigating the menu. The volume up button is used to move up 1 option, the volume down is used to move down 1 option, and the power button is used to select the current option.
Next, press the volume down until you’ve selected the wipe data/factory reset option.
Then, press the power button to select the option. You should see multiple lines saying “no.” This is just to make sure you don’t accidentally press the power button and select the wrong option. Now, navigate all the way down to the “Yes – delete all user data” option using the volume down button, and press the power button to select and confirm factory wipe.
Now, wait for the system to be fully factory restored. Once it’s done you should be back to the root of the recovery menu. Now, we’re pretty much done, all you need to do is just reboot the device. Use the volume up option to navigate to the first option and press the power button to reboot the device.
