WhatsApp will no longer support Symbian phones
WhatsApp has been breaking many hearts of late. This comes as Whatsapp is getting more chaste and selective of the devices it flirts with. Just after Whaspp announced its official divorce of blackberry devices, it is following this up by shoving Symbian phone users through its doors of compatibility.
So should you be among those few users still holding on to a Symbian-powered smartphone, this is sure to break your heart as WhatsApp is to cease working by the end of this year.
A popup message has been appearing to every WhatsApp users on Symbian OS:
Unfortunately, you won’t be able to use WhatsApp after 31/12/2016 because WhatsApp will no longer support your phone.
This indicates the reality that WhatsApp is shutting down its Symbian-dedicated servers such that the app will no longer work after that. While we must affirm how unfortunate this is going to be for Symbian users, we must yet give WhatsApp some thumbs up for its overdue support for Symbian OS.
The pull out of WhatsApp compatibility with Symbian doesn’t necessarily imply the death of the OS, it just shows the OS is closer to the land of dead than that of the living.
