Facebook live videos turned the social network into a platform for live streaming. It’s a limited feature but people, brands, and companies all seem to be willing to give it a try. Anyone can stream a live video; Facebook pages and profiles alike. Every time a Page or a friend you follow on Facebook begins to stream live, you receive a notification so you can watch it. Facebook also gives you notifications for live streams it thinks you’ll be interested in. The thing is that live videos aren’t a refined feature and there’s only so much you can get out of it that many people tire of watching them and that’s when the notifications start to get annoying. The good news is, Facebook has a setting to turn these notifications Off. Here’s where it is.
Sign in to your Facebook account and click the drop-down arrow next to the padlock button on the top right of the title bar. Select ‘Settings’ from the menu that opens. On the Settings screen, click ‘Notifications’ on the left column. The Notifications Settings allow you to customize what events you receive notifications for. Click the ‘Edit’ button next to the ‘On Facebook’ setting.
With the ‘On Facebook’ notifications settings expanded, scroll down to ‘Live Videos’ (it’s at the very end), click the ‘On’ drop-down and select either ‘Suggestions Off’ or ‘All Off’.
It isn’t possible to turn Live Video notifications Off from the mobile apps just yet but give it some time and it should be added with an update.
